Kansas Town Celebrates Native Baseball Hall of Famer

Vintage-IntrosRichard ClappIt can be argued that the most famous double-play combination in the history of baseball is Joe Tinker, Johnny Evers and Frank Chance. This threesome played for the Chicago Cubs more than a hundred years ago, and the rhythm of their names in a 1910 poem made them famous. Despite being forever linked to Chicago, Joe Tinker was a native of Muscotah, Kan., and his descendants visited the small town over the weekend. While they took in the story of their ancestor’s Kansas roots, the town had the opportunity to learn the story of a Hall of Fame shortstop. KPR’s Greg Echlin has the story.
