   There will be plenty of music in Lawrence this weekend (Oct 27)...

   The internationally-acclaimed Fisk Jubilee Singers will perform in Lawrence Saturday night. The original group introduced so-called "slave songs" to the world in 1871. They've performed for European Royalty, and are credited with breaking racial barrier in the U-S and abroad. They're appearing in Lawrence in conjunction with an exhibition at the Spencer Museum of Art celebrating the African-American modernist Aaron Douglas. Bill Woodard is communications' director for the Spencer Museum.

   The performance will be held Saturday night at 7-30 at Liberty Hall in downtown Lawrence. Tickets are available at the Liberty Hall Box Office and Ticketmaster.
