This week's KPR Presents features former U.S. Poet Laureate and Pulitzer Prize-winner Ted Kooser, from a reading sponsored by the University of Kansas Libraries. We'll also hear the collaborative efforts of Kansas Poet Laureate Caryn Mirriam-Goldberg and singer-songwriter Kelley Hunt, in a reading performed at the Lawrence Public Library.

   American children don't spend nearly as much time outdoors as they did 20 or 30 years ago. Now, kids have all kinds of temptations to keep them inside the house... dozens of TV channels, computers, video games and cell phones, to name a few. The experts are divided on what all this will mean for society in the next 20 years. But

   commentator John Richard Schrock worries that our increasing isolation from nature will have profound consequences.
