Freedom to Serve
As the U.S. military reviews its controversial "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy on gays serving openly, KPR Presents "Freedom to Serve." We'll look at the role of blacks and women in the military, and how those lessons can be applied to gays. "Freedom to Serve" was moderated by NPR Senior News Analyst Juan Williams, and held at the Truman Presidential Library and Museum in Independence, MO.

Moran Highlights Tiahrt Ethics Investigations in Mailing   Date: July 30, 2010
Kansas Congressman Jerry Moran is reminding voters in the Republican U-S Senate primary of an ethics case involving rival candidate and Congressman Todd Tiahrt. Tiahrt's campaign has long cried foul over Moran's campaign talking about an investigation of Tiahrt by the U-S House. Its Ethics Committee concluded in February there was no evidence of wrongdoing by Tiahrt in how his office handled budget earmarks. But in May, another ethics office turned over information about defense contractors linked to the case to the U-S Justice Department. Moran raised the issue again in a recent mailing to Kansas voters. A Tiahrt supporter, state Representative Rob Olson, of Olathe, decried what he called dirty politics.
