This Week on KPR Presents

Freedom to Serve
As the U.S. military reviews its controversial "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy on gays serving openly, KPR Presents "Freedom to Serve." We'll look at the role of blacks and women in the military, and how those lessons can be applied to gays. "Freedom to Serve" was moderated by NPR Senior News Analyst Juan Williams, and held at the Truman Presidential Library and Museum in Independence, MO.

Vietnam Memorial Replica Shown in KS   Date: July 29, 2010
A traveling replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial in the nation's capital is going on display in northeast Kansas. The Moving Wall is a half-size replica of the memorial in Washington that bears the names of more than 50,000 U-S service personnel killed during the Vietnam War. KNZA-FM reports The Moving Wall will stand today (THURS) through Monday in the City Park in Seneca. The city is located in Nemaha (NEE'-muh-hah) County, a few miles from the Nebraska border. The display will be available for viewing around the clock, with an evening prayer service and taps to be conducted Thursday through Sunday at 7 pm. The memorial's stop in Seneca is sponsored by members of American Legion Riders Post 21.
