| Item Listing | A Tale of Two Landscapes Date: March 29, 2006 When non-Kansans speak of Kansas, their first words often invoke the state's topography. "Flat," "barren" and "dusty" are some of the more common descriptions. None of this, of course, comes as news to Kansans...some have spent a lifetime listening to outsiders dismiss their state as "dull" and "boring." Commentator Cheryl Unruh is one native Kansan who finds nothing to apologize for in her defense of the Kansas landscape. In fact, perhaps its time folks in some other states start acknowledging the problems "their" views can create for a visitor from Kansas.
