Few subjects can create as much heated and passionate debate as a discussion about the education of our children. Politics, religion and science are just some of the powerful influences that shape our beliefs about what students should be taught... and even HOW they should be taught. Commentator John Richard Schrock is a professor of education who makes it a point to warn his students about some of the more *prickly* topics they'll face in their own classrooms. He suggests that a search for common ground begins with mutual understanding and... civility.
