Scientists have known for years that there's more to health than meets the eye. Prayer, religion, and spirituality do seem to have an effect on health. Now, that spiritual aspect of health and healing is getting attention from the medical community. Jeff Levin (pronounced like Kevin) has been studying this connection since the 1980's. As part of our series, Kansas Health: A Prescription for Change", Health Reporter Bryan Thompson sat down with Professor Levin to see what he's learned.

Jeff Levin is an epidemiologist and Adjunct Professor of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences at Duke University School of Medicine. His pioneering research helped establish the field of religion, spirituality, and health. He spoke from his home near Perry Lake with Kansas Public Radio's Bryan Thompson. For more about the connection between faith and health, visit our website at kpr.ku.edu. Just click on the "health series" link. That's kpr.ku.edu.

Funding for the health series is provided by the Sunflower Foundation of Topeka and the Kansas Health Foundation of Wichita.
