Suit Deepens Divide between KS Lawmakers, Judiciary

Statehouse 3 - small(Photo by Stephen Koranda) A school funding lawsuit has deepened a divide between the judicial branch and some lawmakers. Justices have not explicitly responded to Brownback, but in the recent State of the Judiciary address, Chief Justice Lawton Nuss said the courts work to fairly and impartially apply the law.

A lower court ruled last year that the state isn’t adequately funding education.
