As this year's International Institute for Young Musicians winds down at KU, Scott McBride Smith brought in four finalists from this year's piano competition. As always, these young pianists amazed us with their talent. ; The International Institute for Young Musicians held their big piano competition this week, and the three top finalists came to KPR's studios today to perform for us. Atrium String Quartet

The Atrium String Quartet is once again the Quartet-in-residence at the Sunflower Music Festival in Topeka. Originally from St. Petersburg, Russia, they now live in Berlin and travel all over the world with their music. The ensemble came to KPR's studios today and performed Arensky's String Quartet No. 2. Steven Spooner, piano

Pianist Steven Spooner will be in recital at Grace Cathedral, Topeka on Sunday as part of the Great Spaces Concert Series. Steven came to KPR's studios today, where he treated us to an "Audience Choice" preview of the concert. All week people have been requesting pieces for Steven to play on our Facebook page.

In The Plains Chamber Music Festival

The In The Plains Chamber Music Festival...a teaching and performance festival in Topeka and Fairway, KS, will be holding performances at the First United Methodist Church in Topeka Saturday and Sunday, and on Monday, at the United Church of Christ in Fairway, KS.  Details at their website.  The faculty from the festival came to KPR's studios today and performed works by Kenji Bunch, Shostakovich and Tchaikovksy.  Click on listen to enjoy the music!
