The Dahlia Trio

The Dahlia Trio will be performing at the Unitarian Fellowship of Lawrence Sunday, November 30th at 2:30 PM.  The trio came to our studios and gave a preview performance today.  We loved hearing the first movement of Beethoven's Archduke Piano Trio, and we were treated to a World Premiere Performance of composer Ryan Woodhouse's new composition, "Taured."  Click on listen, and enjoy the music and conversation.

The Lawrence Children's Choir

The Ambassador Choir from the Lawrence Children's Choir came to KPR's studios today and sang six selections that are part of the upcoming concert Sunday, November 23rd, 3:30 at the Lawrence High School.  The choir, under the direction of Carolyn Welch sounded marvelous!  Click on Listen and enjoy!

Kansas City Chamber Orchestra preview

The Kansas City Chamber Orchestra will be presenting a concert called "The Muse:  Inspiring Voices" Thursday, October 30th, 7:30 PM  at the Old Mission Methodist Church in Fairway, KS.  We were treated to a preview today in our studios.  Forrest Pierce's original composition, The Twelve Kisses will be performed.  Soprano Sarah Tannehill Anderson, oboist Margaret Marco and the composer at the piano performed a movement from this work for us.  Plus, Margaret Marco performed a couple of movements from the Bach concerto for Oboe d'amore with KCCO conductor Bruce Sorrell at the piano.  Click on listen to hear these outstanding musicians! 

Zhao Yangmingtian, piano

Pianist Zhao Yangmingtian first came to KPR as part of the International Institute for Young Musicians nearly four years ago. He has been here several times and always amazes us. Today he came to our studios to give us a preview of his upcoming concert October 24 at Theatre Lawrence. Click on listen and enjoy Mingtian's performances of works by Chopin, Schubert and Liszt.

Spire Chamber Ensemble: Bach Motets

The Spire Chamber Ensemble will be performing all the Bach Motets in three concerts this weekend in Topeka and Kansas City. Performance details here. These singers come from all over the country to perform here in the area a few times a year. Their appearances at KPR are always remarkable. Today's performance was no exception.

André Micheletti, cello

Brazilian cellist Andre Micheletti is in the area for a recital Saturday night at 7:30 at the Lied Center Pavillion with KU Violin Professor Veronique Matthieu and pianist Ellen Bottorff. Andre came to KPR's studios and treated us to two beautiful performances: The Bach Solo Cello Suite No. 2, and George Crumb's Solo Cello Sonata. Click on listen and enjoy!

A Preview of the KU Collage Concert series, performed at KPR's Live Performance Studio.  

Slawomir Dobrzanski, piano

Pianist Slawomir Dobrzanski will be performing in Topeka at Grace Cathedral's Great Spaces Concert Series Sunday, Sept. 14, at 3 p.m. Grace Cathdral's Steve Burk and Slawomir came to KPR's Live Performance Studio today. We were treated to beautiful music by CPE Bach, Vardapet Komitas and Chopin. Click on Listen, and enjoy!
