Pianist Chaeyoung Park

Pianist Chaeyoung Park, fresh off her success in the Gina Bachauer Piano Competition, plays Haydn's Sonata No. 41, and the Schumann Novelette Op. 21/8. She is soloist in the Saint-Saëns g minor concerto Saturday, July 23 at the Lied Center at 7:30. That's followed by a recital Sunday at Swarthout Recital Hall at 3:00.

IIYM (International Institute for Young Musicans) International Piano Competition Finals

The three prizewinners of the International Institute for Young Musicians at the University of Kansas  played their winning selections in advance of the winners' concert 7/16 at the Lawrence Arts Center. Leah Deobald is 16, and Jessica Zhang and Catherine Huang are 14.

The Sunflower Music Festival's artistic director Charles Stegeman joined fellow violinist Rachel Stegeman in the KPR studio for the second of G.P. Telemann's canonic sonatas, followed by the Duo Concertant No. 3 of Charles de Beriot. Michael Keelan talks with the players about legendary violinist Nathan Milstein, and the experience of playing for movie soundtracks and the Oscars.

The Amernet String Quartet

The Amernet Quartet played live in advance of their 6/12 concert at the Sunflower Music Festival in Topeka. Their program here includes the opening of Haydn's "Emperor" Quartet, Op.76/3, and Erwin Schulhoff's Five Pieces, a set of stylized dances, for string quartet. http://amernetquartet.com/
