Kansas City Symphony violinist Stirling Trent and Chorus November 29, 2016

Violinist Stirling Trent stopped by the KPR studio in advance of his Dec. 7 solo appearance with the KC Symphony, where he serves as associate principal 2nd violin. He played the Bach Chaconne. Then, members of the symphony's chorus gave us a flurry of Christmas carols ahead of their performances of Messiah Dec. 1-4, and Christmas Festival Dec. 15-20, all at the Kauffman Center.

Alexander Markov, violin, November 10, 2016

Violin soloist Alexander Markov, and conductor Kyle Wylie Pickett of the Topeka Symphony, visited the KPR studio ahead of Markov's performance of Paganini's Violin Concerto No. 2. He played Massenet and Bach, besides discussing the technical innovations of Paganini. Then, he took out his electric violin and light saber bow for a 21st century version of virtuosity.

Harpist Yolanda Kondonassis interview

Yolanda Kondonassis is at the pinnacle of the classical harp world. She appears on a new album she co-produced, Ginastera One Hundred, featuring the harp concerto of the Argentine composer Alberto Ginastera in this centennial year of his birth. Violinist Gil Shaham, pianist Orli Shaham, and guitarist Jason Vieaux are also on the album. Kondonassis talks with Michael Keelan about the composer, and music being written for the harp.
