KPR 60th Anniversary Celebration with David Basse and Friends

KPR's David Basse hosts some Kansas City jazz greats in this performance, recorded live in our studios to kick off Kansas Public Radio's year-long celebration of our 60th anniversary. Guests include saxophonist Bobby Watson, vocal group Book of Gaia (Nedra Dixon, Angela Hagenbach, Pamela Baskin-Watson), guitarist Brian Baggett, trumpeter Jim Seeley, jazz poet Dan Jaffe and the Gerald Spaits Trio. The music includes such standards as Stella By Starlight, Love for Sale and I Concentrate on You;  Book of Gaia performs Herbie Hancock's Dolphin Dance and Sister Maya Said; and the entire ensemble joins forces for a rockin' performance of Midnight Special.
