Working Group Searches for Answers to Rural Healthcare Problems

Heartland Health Monitor is a reporting collaboration focused on the impact of health issues in the Midwest.

A group created by Governor Sam Brownback to address rural healthcare problems has wrapped up a year of meetings. But as Heartland Health Monitor’s Jim McLean reports, its final recommendations are still taking shape.


Lieutenant Governor Jeff Colyer will submit the group’s final recommendations to the Legislature in January.

Heartland Health Monitoris a reporting collaboration focused on health issues and their impact in Kansas and Missouri. The partners — Kansas Public Radio, KCUR Public Radio, KCPT Public Television and KHI News Service — strive to bring listeners and readers timely, accurate and comprehensive coverage of health and health-related issues.
