Several posters placed near the Kansas Statehouse in downtown Topeka were promoting a white nationalist group. At least one of the posters was still up Wednesday morning, with another found partially torn down.
The posters are associated with the group Identity Evropa, which describes itself on Facebook as “educating the people of European heritage about the importance of a Eurocentric identity.”
The Southern Poverty Law Center recently wrote about growth in so-called “identitarian” groups.
“Several small American hate groups are stepping up efforts to spread local variants of ‘identitarianism,’ a movement born in France in recent years that preaches opposition to multiculturalism, often taking shape in the form of anti-Muslim xenophobia,” said an article posted by the SPLC last fall.
Similar posters were also found in Wichita.
