Warm, Dry Kansas Weather Stokes Fears of Statewide Drought

Drought conditions have been affecting most of the western and central Kansas for several years.

The unusually warm month of February this year did not break records in Kansas but it was among the warmest in more than 120 years. Kansas State University climatologist Mary Knapp says February was also very dry across the state and she says that trend is likely to continue throughout March.

Moderate to severe drought conditions persist throughout most of the western and central parts of the state and many climatologists say the dry conditions seem to be creeping toward the east.
