Topeka Community Holds Conversation on Poverty

Poverty in Topeka.  That's the subject of a day-long event in the capital city next week.  Mikki Burcher is one of the organizers of the 2nd annual Topeka Community Conversation on Poverty.  She says their goal is simple.

By getting advocates together in one place, Burcher hopes it will spark better ideas for helping low-icome residents.  Census figures show more than 16% of Topeka and Shawnee County residents live below the federal poverty line.  The Topeka Community Conversation on Poverty begins Tuesday at Washburn University.
