The Ryder Cup takes place every other year, pitting the best golfers from the U.S. in match play against the best from Europe. The Europeans won the 2012 Ryder Cup after a disastrous outing by the U.S. team last September. Now, the hopes of the U.S. team in the next Cup competition will be riding on decisions made by Kansas City's Tom Watson, who has been named as the team's new captain by the PGA. Kansas Public Radio's Greg Echlin reports that Watson is relishing the opportunity.
Watson, who has 70 professional wins and is a five-time winner of the British Open, met with the Kansas City media Wednesday.
