Sunflower Journeys Looks Back at 25 Years of Kansas Stories

In the fall of 1987, public television station KTWU began work on a series of programs focusing on Kansas history, geography and culture. 25 years later, Sunflower Journeys has become a kind of institution throughout the state, with its trademark mix of the offbeat and the informative. KPR's Laura Lorson talked with producer and host Dave Kendall about how the show has stayed fresh and the stories surprising.

Dave Kendall is host of the KTWU television program Sunflower Journeys. He spoke with KPR's Laura Lorson. A special 25th anniversary celebration of Sunflower Journeys will take place at the Topeka Performing Arts Center on Saturday, September 8th. The show will feature guests who've appeared on Sunflower Journeys, including the Diamond W Wranglers, Judy Coder & Cowgirl Swing, and a reading from Tom Averill. Tickets are available from KTWU. More information is available online at ktwu.org.
