State officials say the company, Virginia-based Maximus, did not meet the performance standards in its contract.

After repeated warnings since last January, Kansas officials are now preparing to fine the company that processes applications for KanCare, the state’s privatized Medicaid program. And as Jim McLean reports for the Kansas News Service, the controversy is seeping into the governor’s race.
