State Fair Continues, Boosts Central Kansas Economy

The fair continues through Sunday, September 18
The fair continues through Sunday, September 18

The Kansas State Fair is underway in Hutchinson. This year's fair features the usual midway thrills and farm animal exhibits and competitions. A Kid's petting zoo and camel rides are also staples at the annual event.  This year, a new dog show, a barn quilt competition and some new food contests have been added. Judges will choose the best ice cream toppings and flavored popcorn along with the usual competitions for the blue ribbon in pies, jams and jellies. Fair general manager Susan Sankey says the annual state fair has a major economic impact on central Kansas every Fall.

This year's fair also features entertainment from 70's rock band Lynard Skynard as well as country artists Justin Moore, Suzy Boguss and other musical acts. The Fair continues through next Sunday at the Fairgrounds in Hutchinson.
