Sheriff: Homeowner Shot Man during Haysville Break-In

HAYSVILLE, Kan. (AP) — Sedgwick County authorities say a homeowner shot and killed a man who was trying to break into his home in Haysville.  Sheriff's Captain Greg Pollock says the homeowner shot 27-year-old Cody Don Reid on December 29. Pollock says authorities have no current plans to arrest the 57-year-old homeowner. Prosecutors will decide whether charges will be filed.  Authorities still think that Reid was trying to break in when the homeowner shot him.  A week ago, Pollock said Reid had been shot by someone other than the male resident or female companion who were at the home.  The Wichita Eagle reports that investigators now think the homeowner fired two shots and one hit Reid.
