Senator Roberts Continues Push for New Missouri River Rules

Kansas Senator Pat Roberts is still pushing for better flood control along the Missouri River. The Republican told a Senate committee today (TUE) that the Army Corps of Engineers should update its manual for managing the river.

Roberts says the corps should update how it manages dams and reservoirs to prevent a repeat of this summer's flooding. But Montana Governor Brian Schweitzer disagrees. He's concerned that changes to the way the corps manages the river could wind-up hurting his state, leaving upstream reservoirs without enough water to weather a drought.
