Senate President Believes It's Too Early to Tell How Redistricting Will Affect KS Elections

One of the redistricting maps drawn by federal judges.Senate President Steve Morris says it’s too early to tell how the decision on redistricting will affect Senate Republicans facing primary challenges. A federal court last week released maps redrawing political districts. A handful of Senate Republicans are being challenged in the primary election. Morris, a Republican from Hugoton, is himself facing a primary challenge.

Morris will square off with state Representative Larry Powell in the primary. The redistricting maps did draw challengers out of several Senate districts. At least one challenger is moving to continue running against an incumbent Senator. The primary election is August 7th.
