Religion for Atheists

If you don't believe in God, can you still get something valuable from religion? That's the premise behind essayist Alain de Botton's latest book, Religion for Atheists: A Non-Believers Guide to Religion. Alain de Botton argues that non-believers and secularists can learn much about art, music, love, and community from organized religion, even if they disagree with the basic premise that God exists. He spoke at the University of Kansas as part of the Hall Center for the Humanities Lecture Series.

Kaye starts her weekends the same way you do: with Weekend Edition Saturday, Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, This American Life, and To the Best of Our Knowledge. She started at Kansas Public Radio in 2001; in 2006, she became the producer of our weekly public affairs program, KPR Presents. In her spare time, she loves to read, travel, and attend theater.
