Trooper Hospitalized After Crash

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — A state trooper is expected to recover after his patrol car was struck by another vehicle in Topeka. Ryan Goubeaux was responding to a report of a break-in and had his lights and sirens on when his car was hit by a vehicle in an intersection. The impact spun the patrol car around and caused it to strike two other vehicles.


Man Struck, Killed Following Deer Accident

LYONS, Kan. (AP) — A 32-year-old central Kansas man who was struck and killed by a vehicle was standing outside of his SUV because he had hit a deer. Boe Keesling was pronounced dead at the scene Friday southeast of Lyons. Three passengers in the vehicle that struck him were injured.


Hutchinson Inmate Sentenced in Guard Attack

HUTCHINSON, Kan. (AP) — A Wichita man serving a hard-50 prison sentence for murder has been given 22 more years for trying to kill a prison guard. Dajuan Wilkerson was convicted of attempted second-degree murder in August. The attack on the Hutchinson Correctional Facility guard occurred in 2010. Wilkerson has spent the last three years in solitary confinement because of the attack.
