Fourth Arrest in Wichita Shooting
WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — A fourth person has been arrested in connection with a drug-related shooting death in downtown Wichita. Lieutenant Todd Ojile said Friday that the latest suspect was arrested Thursday night during a traffic stop. The Wichita Eagle reports three men have already been charged in connection with the April slaying of 33-year-old Ronald Betts at an apartment. Police say they're continuing to search for other suspects in the case.
Infant Abandoned at Wichita Walmart, Mother Arrested
WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — Authorities have arrested a 26-year-old mother suspected of abandoning her 2-week-old baby inside a Wichita Wal-Mart. The Wichita Eagle reports that the woman roamed around the store between 1 a.m. and 2 a.m. yesterday (SAT) before leaving the infant behind inside a child carrier. The woman was booked on suspicion of a child abandonment charge, along with an unrelated felony warrant. The infant was taken into police protective custody.
