Three More Sentenced in Topeka Murder
TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — Three more people have been sentenced for involvement in a burglary that led to the murder of a Topeka woman. Bayate Covington, Kevin Wilkins Junior, and Frednetta Winston have been sentenced in the 2011 death of Natalie Gibson and the wounding of her partner Lori Allison. The women were shot when they arrived home while their home was being robbed.

Topeka Teen Charged in Lawrence Murder
LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) — A 19-year-old Topeka woman has been charged in the shooting of a 51-year-old Lawrence man. The Journal-World reports that Douglas County prosecutors yesterday charged Brittny Adams with second-degree murder in the death of 51-year-old Gary Edens, who was shot and killed at his home Wednesday. Edens' death was the first murder reported in Lawrence since 2008.

Man Dies in Hay Bale Fire
WALDO, Kan. (AP) — A north-central Kansas man has died from injuries suffered in a large hay bale fire. KAYS reports that 82-year-old Lowell Lund of rural Waldo died yesterday from severe burns at a Wichita hospital. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
