Would-be Bomber Remains Jailed

WICHITA, Kan. (AP) — A man arrested for an alleged plot to detonate a car bomb inside Wichita's Mid-Continent Regional Airport will remain jailed for at least another week as the government prepares its case. Terry Lee Loewen was arrested early yesterday (FRI) as he tried to access the airport grounds with a vehicle full of inert explosives.  A spokeswoman for Hawker Beechcraft confirmed that Loewen has been suspended from his job with Hawker Beechcraft. Terry Loewen worked as an avionics technician.

Topeka Police Ask for Help Solving Quadruple Homicide

 

TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — Topeka police are asking for the public's help in their investigation into a quadruple homicide earlier this month. Four people were found killed on December 1st. The victims were 45-year-old Carla Avery, her 43-year-old brother Eric Avery; her 56-year-old ex-husband Marvin Woods; and another woman, 34-year-old Tamesha Lee.

Two Scientists Accused in Stolen Seed Plot

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) — A federal judge in Arkansas has ordered an agricultural scientist from China who's accused of conspiring to steal seeds to remain in custody. Weiqiang Zhang of Manhattan, Kansas, and Wengui Yan of Stuttgard, Arkansas, are accused of conspiring to steal seeds from a research facility in Kansas and pass them to a Chinese delegation that visited the United States this year. Zhang has a hearing set for Tuesday in Kansas.
