Redistricting Court Case Puts Elections Officials' Plans on Hold

As Kansas lawmakers and Secretary of State Kris Kobach anxiously await a federal court decision on remapping the state's political boundaries, elections commissioners also have a lot at stake in the results of the political realignment process. Shawnee County Elections Commissioners Elizabeth Ensley Dieter (DYE-ter) says that the timing of the decision is just as important as the content: 

That June 23rd date isn't arbitrary...legally, it's the latest date that military servicemembers may have ballots sent to them. If the remapping process is not completed by that date, significant problems with the scheduled August 7th primary election could arise.
