Public Officials Commemorate 9/11 Anniversary

Members of the Shawnee County Sheriff's Office salute as they receive a wreath. (Photo by Stephen Koranda)Governor Sam Brownback joined other elected officials to commemorate the anniversary of the 9/11 terror attacks. They thanked members of the military and law enforcement for their service. Brownback was a sitting U.S. senator in 2001, and he says many in Washington thought more attacks were on the way.

During the ceremony in Topeka, representatives of the armed services, law enforcement and first responders were presented with wreaths to thank them for their service.
