Protestors at KU Rally Against Guns on Campus

Dozens of people gathered at the University of Kansas today (MON) to rally against a state law that will allow concealed weapons to be carried on college campuses next year. Meagen Youngdahl is with the Kansas Coalition for a Gun Free Campus.


Organizers say they've collected more than 1,300 signatures on a petition that calls on Kansas lawmakers to keep concealed firearms off campus. Today's (MON) rally included students, staff and faculty members from KU, Kansas State, Washburn University and Fort Hays State.

Protesters Rally at KU Against Guns on Campus

Allowing concealed firearms on college campuses will undermine academic freedom and raise safety concerns. That was the message delivered today (MON) by protesters at the University of Kansas. Meagen Youngdahl, with the Kansas Coalition for a Gun Free Campus, says allowing firearms on campus will drive away students and faculty.


Dozens of students, staff and faculty members from universities across the state took part in the protest at KU. The group is hoping to change a state law that will allow concealed guns on college campuses next year.

Protesters at KU: No Guns on Campus

Dozens of protesters gathered at the University of Kansas today (MON) to deliver a message to state lawmakers: concealed guns are not welcome on campus. Under state law, concealed firearms will be allowed on all college campuses next year. But Meagen Youngdahl, with the Kansas Coalition for a Gun Free Campus, says they're hoping to stop that law from taking effect.
