A program from the Kansas Department of Commerce will work to grow new businesses with early-stage investments.

Under the JumpStart program, grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded to help boost new businesses in the state. Commerce Secretary Antonio Soave says business-focused departments at the state’s universities will help find the entrepreneurs.

“What we want to do is identify our best and our brightest around the state of Kansas and be able to engage with them in a true public-private partnership,” says Soave.

The program is being funded with a grant from the Kansas Department of Commerce. Each participating university will get $60,000 to use to foster businesses.
