Police Asking for Tips Related to Topeka Homicides

Topeka Police Major Jerry Stanley speaking to reporters. (Photo by Stephen Koranda)Topeka police say they have not identified any suspects in a triple homicide and a related shooting that left a woman seriously wounded. Police say they were investigating a woman who had been shot Sunday afternoon. They went to the Topeka home of the wounded woman where they found the bodies of two men and a woman. Police say they have few details to release and will not say how the three were killed. Topeka Police Major Jerry Stanley says there is an $8,000 reward being offered for information leading to an arrest.

The wounded shooting victim was identified as 45-year-old Carla Jean Avery. She remained in critical condition in a Topeka hospital. The two men found dead in Avery's home were her 43-year-old brother, Eric Christopher Avery, and her ex-husband, 56-year-old Marvin Louis Woods. A 34-year-old woman was also found dead in the home, but her name has not yet been released.
