Poets Nikky Finney and Caryn Mirriam-Goldberg

We celebrate National Poetry Month on this week's KPR Presents. Caryn Mirriam-Goldberg talks about her four years as Kansas Poet Laureate as she prepares to step down from that post.  We also hear from Nikky Finney,  winner of the National Book Award and author of four books of poetry. Finney spoke at the University of Kansas as part of the Hall Center of the Humanities Lecture series, exploring the role of the poet in chronicling and reacting to the ways that humans are changing the world around us.

Kaye starts her weekends the same way you do: with Weekend Edition Saturday, Wait Wait Don't Tell Me, This American Life, and To the Best of Our Knowledge. She started at Kansas Public Radio in 2001; in 2006, she became the producer of our weekly public affairs program, KPR Presents. In her spare time, she loves to read, travel, and attend theater.
