Plaque on Statehouse Grounds Honors Bob Dole

Former Kansas Senator Bob Dole has received the first spot on a new Walk of Honor at the Kansas Statehouse. The markers commemorate notable Kansans. Senator Dole called it one of the greatest honors of his career.

Officials praised the Russell native as someone who worked well with members of both parties during his 35 years in Washington. Dole’s plaque in the Walk of Honor will be followed by up to three more each year. A committee will choose the Kansans to commemorate.
