Peter Straub and the Gothic Tradition

Horror literature and film is big business, and not just at this time of year. Many of the most popular movie and book series of all time draw on classic horror and its imagery, and some writers in the Gothic tradition, like Stephen King, have become superstars of pop culture. University of Kansas professor John Tibbetts has recently written a book on Peter Straub, a prolific...but lesser-known...writer, who combines Old World and New World horror traditions in his work. KPR's Laura Lorson asked Tibbetts why he thinks Straub's work has been overlooked.

John Tibbetts is an associate professor of film and media studies at the University of Kansas. He'll be speaking and signing copies of his book The Gothic Worlds of Peter Straub tonight (TUE) at 7 o'clock at the Raven Bookstore in Lawrence.
