Orman Hopes to be Kingmaker in U.S. Senate

Photo by Stephen KorandaGreg Orman, the independent candidate for the U.S. Senate in Kansas, hopes to become a kingmaker in that chamber. Orman says if he’s elected, there could be a situation where neither the Democrats nor Republicans have a majority in the Senate. He says that could make his vote instrumental in getting bills passed, and give him the opportunity to make progress in the chamber.

“To say to both parties, we need you to focus on a pro-problem-solving agenda. We need you to address issues that matter to the American people and not hide from those issues. So things like healthcare and higher education affordability. We need you to address those issues,” says Orman.

Orman made the comments during an interview with KTWU television in Topeka. The interview will air Thursday at 7:30 on the program I’ve Got Issues. KTWU staff say they also extended an invitation to Republican Senator Pat Roberts, but did not get a response from his campaign. Also running for the seat is Libertarian Randall Batson.
