Online Road Information Service To Undergo Maintenance Tests

The Kansas Department of Transportation will be testing the capacity of its popular online 511 service today (TUE). Computer software will attempt to overwhelm the online roadmap with log-in requests, so that KDOT can see if it needs to make any upgrades to its server capacity. Barb Blue, a KDOT spokeswoman, says that during the test, the maps at the 511 Traveler Information Map won't bear much of a resemblance to how the roads really look today (TUE):

The test will begin at 9 o'clock this (TUE) morning and will last through 4 pm. The 511 Traveler Information telephone line will list current weather and driving conditions while the test is taking place.
