Officials Will Lobby for More Military Troops to be Stationed in KS

The Lewis and Clark Center at Fort Leavenworth. (Photo from usacac.army.mil)With U.S. troops returning from Iraq and scheduled to return from Afghanistan, Governor Sam Brownback says state officials will be lobbying to have more troops stationed in Kansas. Military installations offer a big economic impact. Some reports say the annual  impact is nearly 8 billion dollars in Kansas. Brownback says they’ll be contacting federal officials with the goal of having more soldiers and equipment stationed at Kansas facilities.

Brownback says similar efforts helped return the Big Red One to Kansas after the 1st Infantry Division was removed from the state.
