Suspect Sought in Wichita Shooting Death
WICHITA, Kan. (AP) _ One person has been arrested and another is being sought in connection with the shooting death of a Wichita woman in her home. A 21-year-old man was booked into the Sedgwick County Jail on Friday in connection with the death of 66-year-old Jacquelyn Harvey. Authorities are searching for a 22-year-old woman as a second suspect in the death.
Charges Against Galena Officials Challenged
GALENA, Kan. (AP) _ A special prosecutor has asked a judge to throw out felony charges against seven elected officials in southeast Kansas accusing them of misusing public funds. Prosecutor Jennifer Prunetti filed a motion in Cherokee County this week saying the alleged conduct of the defendants doesn't qualify as misuse of public funds. Galena Mayor Dale Oglesby and six current or former city council members were accused of misusing funds in June 2013.
Twister Damages Property, Spares Residents
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) _ Several homes have been damaged after an EF-1 touched down in eastern Kansas. The Kansas City Star reports the twister touched down Friday evening in Miami County. Undersheriff Wayne Minckley says there were some minor injuries, but nothing life-threatening.
Deadly Blister Beetles Traced to Kansas Hay
NASHVILLE, N.C. (AP) _ Officials say six horses have died in North Carolina after eating hay containing blister beetles. State Department of Agriculture investigators have linked the deaths to a load of alfalfa hay delivered from Kansas last month to certain feed stores. D&B Acres' owner Dolly Colbert says four of the farm's horses died within 12 hours of eating the contaminated hay.
