For the first time in school history, the University of Kansas women's track and field team has won the national championship!

Yesterday (SUN), hundreds of cheering fans welcomed the KU athletes home from Oregon, during a reception at Allen Fieldhouse. KU sophomore Lindsay Vollmer - the national heptathlon champion - says the team's success has started a new tradition for Jayhawk women athletes.

The outdoor national championship marks KU's 11th team track title... and the first ever for a KU women's team in any sport.
