It’s been a long time since the David Booth family paid $4.3 million as the winning bid for the original rules of basketball, written by the game’s inventor, Dr. James Naismith. The auction at Southeby’s in New York took place in 2010. But now the two-page document has finally found a permanent home. The original 13 rules are on display at the University of Kansas, where Dr. Naismith worked most of his professional life. Kansas Public Radio’s Greg Echlin has more in this report.
