My Farm Roots: KC Man Recalls Lessons from Farm

Paul Horel, 66, left the family farm as soon as he could. Now, though, he appreciates lessons learned as a farm kid. (Justine Greve for Harvest Public Media)It’s time again for My Farm Roots, a series from Harvest Public Media in which we hear Americans’ stories and memories of rural life. Because when you hail from farm country, roots run deep. KPR News Intern Justine Greve prepared this week's episode in which we hear from Paul Horel.  The Kansas City man grew up on an Iowa farm... but left as soon as he could. Even so, lessons learned on the farm stayed with him as he pursued a different life.

is a collaboration of public media stations across the Midwest. To hear more My Farm Roots stories – or to share your own – visit HarvestPublicMedia.org.
