Lynn Jenkins Talks Farm Bill at Topeka Meeting

Flickr Photo by user Vampire BearRepublican congresswoman Lynn Jenkins held a town hall meeting in Topeka today (WED). Among the topics discussed was the farm bill. Jenkins believes lawmakers can come to an agreement on a new bill this year...and she's hoping to see some changes to several farm bill programs.

There is some bipartisan agreement on that issue. President Obama has also called for ending the direct payments. But the bills passed by the House and Senate are also very different. The House cut food stamps from the farm bill legislation entirely. The Senate version retains supplemental nutrition programs as a part of the farm bill, which is the way those programs have been funded for years.
