Lobbyists Oppose Property Tax Restructuring for KS Seniors

Groups representing cities and counties are trying to block a proposal in the Kansas Legislature aimed at controlling property tax increases for senior citizens.  Larry Bear, with the Kansas Association of Counties, says limiting property taxes for seniors is unfair to other taxpayers.

The proposal would create a constitutional amendment allowing the Legislature to limit annual county increases in home values for older Kansans. Supporters of the plan say they're trying to keep seniors in their homes.
