At the Olympic swimming trials in Omaha last (MON) night, 17-year old Michael Andrew of Lawrence competed against the best in the world in his first event final, the 100-meter breast. He finished fourth, but improved on his times from the prelims the day before. Andrew says that just being able to compete with the country’s best swimmers was a great honor.
The top two finishers in the trials qualify for the Olympics in Rio. Andrew is scheduled to swim in four more events at the trials this week in Omaha.
