Lawrence Meeting to Focus on State Service Cuts

A town hall meeting tonight (WED) in Lawrence will look at how state budget cuts have affected vulnerable Kansans. The event is sponsored by a coalition of state advocacy organizations. Sheli ("shelly") Sweeney is with the Association of Community Mental Health Centers. She says budget cuts have meant reducing services for many different groups of people.

The meeting is at 5 o'clock in the Carnegie (car-NAY-ghee) Library building in downtown Lawrence. Other meetings are scheduled for tomorrow (THUR) in Pittsburg and later this month in Wichita.

Stephen Koranda is KPR's Statehouse reporter.
