A non-profit organization in Lawrence is trying to collect $30,000 in financial contributions and donated school supplies before August 1st, and as of last week they were around $10,000 short. The school supplies will go to low-income students in Douglas County. Kyle Roggenkamp, with Ballard Community Services, says they set a lofty goal this year. Normally, they help around 500 to 700 children in Douglas County with school supplies.
The needed items range from pencils and pens to tissues. School supplies and financial contributions are being accepted. For a complete list of items and donation locations, visit ballardcenter.org.
